FILE - In this June 23, 1963, file photo, Black and white demonstrators, under arrest, walk off the beach at Biloxi, Miss., after staging a wade-in to try to desegregate the Gulf Coast beach. The group was led by Dr. Gilbert Mason, center foreground, and white minister the Rev. R.G. Gallagher, third in line with shorts. On Feb. 20, 2022, people gathered to dedicate a Mississippi historical marker with information about wade-ins that took place in Biloxi 1959, 1960 and 1963. The new marker is a replacement for one that stood for about a decade before a hurricane knocked it down in 2020. (AP Photo/Jim Bourdier, File)
