This photo provided by the U.S. National Wildlife Research Center shows a USDA Wildlife Services employee taking a tissue sample from an anesthetized skunk on May 3, 2010. The sample was to be tested to see whether the animal had eaten enough rabies vaccine to be protected from the deadly virus. The agency is considering whether to OK a vaccine that Canada has approved to immunize skunks as well as raccoons. Skunks are the major reservoir for rabies in 21 states.
