Bulgarian News Agency Director General Kiril Valchev spoke in an interview to online magazine BulgariCa on Monday, a day before departing for the 17th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media  in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

“Participating will be 20 media from 14 countries. From the information we have gathered there are a total of 40-45 Bulgarian media in 22 countries ", said Valchev. "So half will participate in person in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and the other half may join online, as we have provided for this possibility,” he added.

After the years of hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic, “the fact that we managed to preserve our meetings in person and not replace them by online meetings, is a success,”  Valchev noted, recalling last year’s difficulties.

„Can you imagine that we’ll visit Jerusalem, which for centuries Bulgarians have dreamt of visiting as pilgrims”, said the BTA Director General. “On National Awakeners’ Day, we’ll open the meeting at the Holy Sepulchre Church.”

"We’ll be bringing up a very important topic - that of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews,” said Valchev.
