Seven Passengers Sustain Light Injuries in Accident with  Sofia-Istanbul Train

Sofia, August 10 (BTA) - Seven people: six Romanians and a
Bulgarian woman, were injured in a train accident on Sunday
evening during the joining of a diesel engine to the
international train travelling between Sofia and Istanbul at the
 station in Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, the Bulgarian State
Railways (BDZ) said in a press release.

The six Romanians sustained only minor injuries. The Bulgarian
woman was more seriously injured. All were taken to hospital in
Plovdiv.

The engine hit the first car of the train at a speed of about
15-20 km/h.

A group of 60 foreign tourists were on the train who were taken
by bus to the border checkpoint at Kapikule in Turkey.

An investigation into the causes of the accident is underway.
