Plovdiv, Southern Bulgaria, October 23 (BTA) - The City of Plovdiv is the most visited city in Bulgaria for cultural tourism, the Plovdiv City Hall said. Tourists who come to Plovdiv for culture increased thrice in 2014, data show. Information from the National Statistical Institute shows that cultural tourism trips to Plovdiv increased 9 per cent in 2013 and up to 34 per cent in 2015 for Bulgarian holiday makers, which is 10 per cent higher than the European levels. In January-August 2015 the growth in the number of tourists visiting Plovdiv exceeded 6 per cent, against an overall decrease of tourists inflow in Bulgaria.
