Reacting to reports that naval mines were washed off the beach of Odessa, Ukraine by a storm and are floating in the Black Sea, posing a risk to vessels, the Bulgarian Government Information Service said on Sunday that the authorities are taking all necessary precautions.
Bulgaria's sea border will be monitored constantly, and so will all vessel courses in the Black Sea, the press release said. Regional governors and Defence Ministry agencies will be on stand-by for possible situations in which they may need to organize safety efforts.
The population in the seaside regions of Dobrich, Varna and Burgas is advised to be vigilant. If someone spots any suspicious round objects in the sea or on the shore, they should call 112.
