The Executive Bureau of the power-sharing Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) decided against sending a representative of the party to join a delegation led by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov which is expected to leave for Kyiv on Wednesday, the BSP press office said on Tuesday. The Socialists' leadership has rallied around the view that enough information is already available about the situation in Ukraine and the consequences of the war.

The BSP is in favour of providing aid to Ukraine, including humanitarian supplies, protective gear, food, medicines and medical consumables, or helping the country restore its civilian infrastructure, but not providing military aid such as ammunition or weapons, the press release said.

"We expect that a blanket decision about supporting Ukraine will be made in Sofia after consultations between the partners in the government coalition and the matter will be left at that, allowing the government to focus on other important problems such as inflation, incomes, economic growth and social affairs," the BSP Executive Bureau said.
