site.btaBulgaria Wins Bronze at Summer Biathlon World Championships
Bulgaria won its first medal at the IBU Summer Biathlon World Championships, which are taking place in Ruhpolding, Germany between August 24 and 28. Lora Hristova placed third in the junior women's 7.5 km super sprint final on Thursday. She finished 38.1 seconds behind first-placed Selina Marie Kastl of Germany and 11.2 seconds behind second-placed Lena Repinc of Slovenia. Hristova missed five targets (1-2-2-0) and clocked the fourth-best overall running time.
Valentina Dimitrova contributed to the strong performance of the Bulgarian biathletes at the Summer World Championships. She placed seventh in the same event as Hristova after missing four targets and finishing the race 55.2 seconds behind the winner.
In the junior women's 7.5 km super sprint qualifying heat one, Bulgaria's Stefani Yolova placed 10th and did not make it to the final.
Last winter, Yolova, Hristova and Dimitrova earned the 3x6 relay bronze at the Youth/Junior World Championships in Soldier Hollow, US.
