The 17th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) began with a thanksgiving service at the Holy Sepulchre Tuesday. The forum will continue until November 3 in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

A thanksgiving service in Bulgarian was celebrated for the first time at Golgotha by the Metropolitan of Western and Central Europe Anthony and archpriest Konstantin Tsankov, in co-celebration with priests from the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, members of the Holy Sepulchre monastery brotherhood.

The thanksgiving service was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, caretaker Culture Minister Velislav Minekov, Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov,  Ivan Chenchev, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Media, Bulgaria's Ambassador in Tel Aviv, Rumyana Bachvarova, and representatives of 20 Bulgarian media outlets in 13 countries.

This is an important moment for Bulgaria because no service has been celebrated on Golgotha in Bulgarian so far, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev told journalists. He pointed out that the 17th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media begins at a significant place for Bulgarians, where not only the salvation of the Bulgarian Jews should be discussed, but also the salvation of truth in media and the eternal values in them. The venue practically begins the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews by the Bulgarian state, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the entire Bulgarian nation, Valchev noted.

Above all, Metropolitan Anthony said he had humbly asked for the health and prosperity of the Bulgarian people. On this day, praying on Golgotha, where the Lord redeemed all sins, voluntary and involuntary, of all present, Metropolitan Anthony said he had requested a better future of all Bulgarians across the earth.

Tomorrow, the participants of the 17th World Meeting of Bulgarian Media will be addressed by Vice President Iliana Iotova, the Chairman of the parliamentary Culture and Media Committee Ivan Chenchev, the ministers of culture and tourism Velislav Minekov and Ilin Dimitrov, the Bulgarian Ambassador in Tel Aviv Rumyana Bachvarova and the head of the EU delegation to Israel Dimiter Tsanchev. At the beginning of the forum the Director General of the BTA Kiril Valchev will address the participants.

The World Meeting of Bulgarian Media in Israel is held in partnership with Aurubis Bulgaria, Postbank and Dimitar Madjarov - 2 Ltd.
