The Day of the Bulgarian Language will be marked in Romania's Palace of the Parliament on May 24, Agerpres reported.

The Chamber of Deputies has granted a request to that effect by Gheorghe Nacov from the parliamentary group of the national minorities, who represents the Union of Bulgarians in Banat - Romania. Bulgaria's Ambassador in Bucharest, Radko Vlaykov, will attend the event.

A Bulgarian folk costume from the Banat region will be displayed in the plenary chamber.

In his request, Nacov recalled that the Day of the Bulgarian Language has been celebrated in Romania since 2015 under a law proposed by Niculae Mircovici, a deputy from the Union of Bulgarians in Banat.

Bulgaria celebrates May 24 as the Day of the Holy Brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian Alphabet, Education and Culture and of Slavic Literature.
