The year 2033 could be set as the deadline for completing the accession of the Western Balkans to the European Union, Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis suggested upon arrival in Brussels for the EU-Western Balkans leaders' meeting, the Greek Skai TV reported.

Underscoring that Athens supports the Western Balkans and is aware why the countries are somewhat suspicious because of the practically minimal progress made, the Greek PM said the meeting is "a fitting occasion to relaunch this process with even greater vigour”.

To do so, the dispute between Sofia and Skopje must finally be resolved for the talks of North Macedonia and Albania on their accession processes to be launched officially, the Greek Prime Minister said.
