The police in Istanbul has busted a group involved in trade of human organs including two Bulgarian women who were arrested and held in custody.
According to the Turkish newspaper Sozcu the operation was launched on a tip that foreign citizens are part of the so-called organ mafia.
The police established false data in the documents of two Bulgarian women, D.K.K и M.T.Y. [a transplant patient and a donor] filed at a private Istanbul hospital in connection with a kidney transplantation.
In the documents they were identified as cousins. The police found that they were not related.
The women said that they had agreed a price for the donorship of 25,000 leva.
Another Bulgarian national, G.A.P. apostilled the documents for a fee of 7,000 leva.
The private hospital is unnamed. A trial is pending.
