The National Assembly adopted amendments to the Public Procurement Act on first and second reading on Friday, to the effect that the price of public procurement contracts will be adjusted for inflation using a government-approved formula.

The amendments were proposed by MPs Nastimir Ananiev, Bogomil Petkov and Yulia Shopova of the parliamentary group of Continue the Change.

The sponsors of the bill said in their reasoning that the revisions will allow the implementation of contracts already signed for construction, repair, renovation and upgrading, supply and services (including engineering services), and will help overcome the consequences of rising prices of construction products, supplies and services.

The legislature voted down another bill to amend the Public Procurement Act, moved by MPs of Democratic Bulgaria and Continue the Change. This bill was aimed to set limits on construction engineering services, making them possible to implement only in cases expressly defined by the law.
