site.btaSixty-ninth Cycling Tour of Bulgaria Attracts Unprecedented Interest
The 69th cycling tour of Bulgaria, which starts this weekend in the capital, has amassed a record-high prize fund of BGN 25,000 for the first participants who reach the end of its 801-kilometre circuit.
At a press conference, organisers from the Bulgarian Cycling Federation revealed their delight that one of Europe's oldest cycling races will take place for the third year in a row, attracting unprecedented interest. A total of 128 club and national teams have applied to take part in the Tour, which will start on August 27 and finish on September 1. Around 20 teams and approximately 120 cyclists are expected to line up at the start, including the national teams of Bulgaria, Serbia and the Republic of North Macedonia.
The Tour will start from the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral on August 27. The opening of the race will start at 4 pm, and the organisers have planned a special programme and an exhibition of vintage bicycles on the occasion of 120 years of cycling in Bulgaria.
