site.btaSports Minister Confers with Representatives of Sports Federations

Caretaker Youth and Sports Minister Vesela Lecheva held a meeting with representative of 73 Bulgarian sports federations, the Sports Ministry said in a press release here on Thursday.

The meeting discussed issues with the federations’ funding, the needs of improving the communication between them and the Ministry, and drafting a 2023 financing programme for sports organizations, among others.

Lecheva said it is particularly important for her to have a feedback system to the federations to allocate funds most efficiently. She urged the attending representatives to propose amendments to the Physical Education and Sports Act if they believe such are needed.

Speaking of hosting major sports events, Lecheva told the federations that when they are hosting competitions, they should also develop the socio-economic benefits of those events and make a good use of them.
