The Bulgarian delegation headed by Prime Minister Kiril Petkov Saturday visited the Bitola 2 TPP.  The delegation also included Foreign Minister Teodora Genchovska, Deputy Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova and Bulgaria’s Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia Angel Angelov.

At the starting point of the Bitola-Elbasan electricity interconnector they met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani. Orhan Murtezani, General Director of the Macedonian state-owned company operator of the state electricity transmission system, showed the beginning of the Bitola-Elbasan transmission, part of the Corridor 8 energy connection project to implement the North Macedonia-Albania intersystem connection.

“The two governments are putting in a lot of effort. It is a fact that we meet frequently, we have clear-cut goals, now we just have to complete them and make progress. We are convinced that the European future of the Republic of North Macedonia is vital for Bulgaria’s stability. So that we act in in an operational manner on the task we have set ourselves,” said Petkov, taking a question whether Bulgaria would raise the veto on the start of North Macedonia’s EU accession negotiations
