Sofia Airport has chosen an operator for its duty-free shops, the airport's press office said here on Wednesday. Sofia Airport has signed a contract with Dufry for its operation in commercial areas for a period of eight and a half years. The company was selected following an international tender and will operate a total of thirteen stores.
The company will take over the operation of the existing retail space of a total of 1,433 square metres, creating two new sites at Terminal 2. The first store will have an area of 1,800 square metres, and passengers will pass directly through it before reaching their flight exit. The other store, with an area of 170 square metres, will target arriving passengers.
Strong emphasis will be placed on the range of Bulgarian products that reflect the taste of the country and acquaint the guests of the capital with the traditions of Bulgaria.
The transformation of the shopping area is part of the concept of the airport operator SOF Connect to improve the travel experience, according to the airport.
