site.btaTrips of Bulgarians Abroad Increase by 114.1% in March Y/Y

There were a total of 538,300 trips of Bulgarians abroad in March of this year, which is 114.1% more compared to the same month of 2021, the National Statistical Institute reported here on Friday.

Visits to Bulgaria by foreigners numbered 627,800, which is 118.1% more compared to last March. Transit trips number 289,600 and constitute 46.1% of all foreigners' visits to this country, show national statistics.  

Of all foreign nationals who visited Bulgaria, the largest share was of EU citizens - 34.8%, or 218,300. Romanians and Greeks paid the most visits by EU nationals - 37.9% and 30.1%, respectively.

There were a total of 337,900 visits from other European countries, which constituted 53.8% of all visits to Bulgaria. The largest share of this group was reported from Turkey and Ukraine - 36.4% and 33.4%, respectively.

The share of visits categorized by purpose is as follows: 55.9% other purpose, 32% holiday and recreation and 12.1% business.
