site.btaBulgaria's GDP Up 4.5% in Q1 Y/Y

In the first quarter of 2022, Bulgaria's GDP increased by 4.5%  compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year and by 1.0% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021, according to seasonally adjusted data published by the National Statistical Institute here on Tuesday. 

According to flash estimates for the first quarter of 2022, the GDP at current prices stood at 30,402.3 million leva, while Gross Value Added (GVA) to 25,856 million leva.

Final consumption had the largest share in the structure of GDP by the expenditure approach - 86.5%, which in nominal terms adds up to 26,310.6 million leva. In the first quarter of 2022, gross capital formation stood at 4,812.9 million leva with a share of 15.9 per cent of GDP. The external balance (exports minus imports) is negative.

According to seasonally adjusted data, GDP registered a 1.0% growth in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the previous quarter. The GVA increase in the first quarter of 2022 was 0.8%.

According to a flash estimate of GDP by the final expenditure approach, the reason for the positive GDP quarterly growth at seasonally adjusted in Q1 is the 1.7% increase in the final consumption.

In the first quarter of 2022, according to seasonally adjusted data, GDP increased by 4.5% compared to the same quarter of the previous year. GVA went up by 4.5% as well.

Final consumption registered an increase of 6.6%, while gross fixed capital formation decreased by 6.1% in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year at seasonally adjusted figures. Exports of goods and services increased by 11.8% and imports of goods and services increased by 13.6%.
