On Thursday, Parliament adopted second-reading amendments to the Energy from Renewable Sources Act, easing the rules on construction of electric renewable energy systems for self-consumption.

The provisions introduce a notification regime before constructing electric renewable energy systems for self-consumption, which will speed up the process.

The amendments say that end consumers will be able to build electric renewable energy systems on roofs and facades of buildings connected to the electricity grid, and on real estates in urban areas. The capacity installed should not exceed 5 megawatts.

A notification must be submitted to a transmission system operator. An additional agreement to the contract must be concluded within 14 days, as well.
