The German Liebherr Group opened a concrete mixer trucks plant in the southern city of Plovdiv. Liebherr-Concrete Technology Marica EOOD is the company's third investment in the region. The plant is equipped with the latest machines in order to meet the growing demand for mixer trucks in Europe, Philipp Liebherr, who is a grandson of the company's founder, Hans Liebherr, said in his welcome address.
The investment in the new plant exceeds EUR 17 million. The facility will produce 2,000 components and 500 complete truck mixers. The plant covers an area of 37,000 sq m and has already employed 120 people.
Locating the plant in Bulgaria will allow the company to better serve its clients in Eastern Europe, the company said.
According to the annual survey of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, conducted among companies that have invested in Bulgaria, 90% of respondents have said they are happy with their investment and would do it again, German Ambassador to Bulgaria Christoph Eichhorn said. According to him, these figures are exceptional and "likely lower in other countries".
InvestBulgaria Agency Executive Director Bogdan Bogdanov said the company has operated in Bulgaria for over 20 years and proven its added value to the local economy. He presented Philipp Liebherr a certificate of merit for the investment in Bulgaria on behalf of Innovations and Growth Minister Daniel Lorer.
