Bulgarian Socialist Party leader, outgoing Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Industry Korneliya Ninova wrote in a Facebook post in response to statements by former prime minister and GERB leader Boyko Borissov earlier in the day, that the growth in the economy is not due to the war in Ukraine.

Ninova explained that the economic growth in the country is due to the work the government has done, which included anti-corruption measures and subsidies for the price of electricity, so that businesses could reinvested their money into production instead of "filling someone's pockets".

Ninova went on to say that no matter what Borissov says, for the first time, Bulgaria is in first place in Europe for something positive - a record growth in industrial production. She denied that this growth came from arms exports,  and said it came from coal mining; manufacture of beverages and vehicles, excluding automobiles; repair and installation; clothing; energy and chemical products; consumer goods; paper and cardboard; food products, medicine, etc.

Earlier on Saturday, GERB leader Boyko Borisov commented to sympathizers in Yambol that the state is in a severe crisis.

"In Bulgaria, there is no record growth of industrial production, which benefits businesses and citizens. The growth is from the export of weapons because of the war in Ukraine," said Borisov on his Facebook page.
