site.btaFirst Grain Harvest in Northern Bulgaria with Good Results

Grain producers in the northeastern Razgrad region are harvesting an average 6,500 kg/ha of wheat, the Regional Directorate of Agriculture told BTA.

Over 76% of the 53,938 ha under wheat have been harvested so far, the grain exceeding 266,856 tonnes.

The barley harvest has an average yield of 5,970 kg/ha. Over 99% of the areas under barley have been harvested so far, or 574.5 ha. A total of 34,290 tonnes of barley have been collected.

The rapeseed harvest in the region is nearly half through, with an average yield of 2,950 kg/ha. So far, farmers have harvested over 11,700 tonnes of rapeseed.

The wheat harvest in nearby Pleven region is slightly lower than last year’s, the local Regional Directorate of Agriculture told BTA. The wheat harvest has been completed and the barley harvest is 99% complete.

Farmers harvested an average 4,680 kg/ha of wheat and 4,700 kg/ha of barley. In 2021 the figures were slightly higher at 6,680 kg/ha for wheat and 6,180 kg/ha for barley, respectively.

Pleven region has harvested a total of 484,240 tonnes of wheat and 43,483 tonnes of barley, the local Directorate of Agriculture added.
