site.btaInstitutions Discuss Ways of Coping with Congestion at Vidin-Calafat Bridge

Officials of the Vidin Traffic Police, the Vidin Border Police Station, the regional road administration, Vidin Municipality and the Vidin-Calafat Bridge management met here on Wednesday to discuss measures for coping with the heavy traffic towards the border crossing, the regional administration said in a press release.

The meeting was initiated by Regional Governor Ognyan Asenov.

As passenger-car traffic doubles during the summer months and the heavy truck traffic is unabated, congestions occur at the city limits every afternoon on weekdays.

The reinforced police presence needs to continue at the critical points on the route to the checkpoint on Bulgaria's border with Romania, the participants in the meeting agreed. Twenty police officers will facilitate and control traffic as long as necessary.
