The Trade and Economic Affairs Office (TEAO) in Romania to the Bulgarian Economy and Industry Ministry won the Grand Prize of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI). 

The second prize went to the Office in Austria and the third prize to the Office in Poland. The BCCI gave encouragement awards to the Offices in Turkey, Serbia and Belgium.

The annual awards ceremony for the economic advisors on long-term secondment to the STEOs took place at the BCCI in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Industry, Nikola Stoyanov.

Earlier on Tuesday, the annual meeting of Bulgaria's Commercial Attaches with the leadership of the Economy Ministry was held at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia. The meeting was also attended by representatives of other ministries, employers' organizations, trade unions and the National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria (NAMB).

At the meeting, BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov confirmed that the Chamber is working very well with its colleagues in the Offices. The annual survey conducted among the member companies showed that the evaluation of their activities is very good – 92% of the responding companies use the services of the BCCI for assistance in finding business partners; 67% for obtaining economic information about the country; 42% for organising a visit of a Bulgarian delegation and 33% for assistance in participating in a fair or an exhibition.

Simeonov stressed that it is extremely important to fill the vacant positions in the Offices with suitable people promptly. In some of the countries, contacts with which are particularly important for Bulgaria, new Offices should be opened, or experts added, he said, mentioning Canada, countries in Latin America, Africa and some countries in Asia as examples.
