site.btaEconomy Ministry Takes Measures to Increase Investments in Bulgaria - Caretaker Minister

Investments in Bulgaria have decreased in the first half of 2022, which is why one of the first tasks of the Economy Ministry is to take all measures to reverse this trend, Economy and Industry Minister Nikola Stoyanov was quoted by his Ministry as telling Bulgarian National TV on Friday.

He said working groups are starting to work with businesses and meetings have been held with commercial attaches about presenting the business opportunities in Bulgaria more actively.

"We're having concrete talks and are completely changing the approach. We will not allow companies to leave our country because of bureaucratic obstacles," Stoyanov said. He gave as an example a manufacturing company that has invested in the central town of Gabrovo, but is now considering leaving Bulgaria because it has been waiting to get a license from the State for some six months now.

"We're not talking about discrepancies involving some documents, but about the lack of will from the State to hold a meeting of a specialized council that issues these licenses. This is administrative arbitrariness, which will not continue for even a day during our term in office," the caretaker Economy Minister said.
