site.btaGDP per Employee in Bulgaria Increases by 2.6% in Q2

In the second quarter of 2022, gross domestic product (GDP) per person employed increased by 2.6% compared to the second quarter of 2021 (based on preliminary data), the National Statistics Institute reported on Wednesday.

A total of 3,559.3 thousand people were employed in the economy, and the total number of hours worked was 1,424.4 million. The structure of employment by economic sector showed an increase in the relative share in the service sector and a decrease in the relative share in the agricultural and industrial sectors in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the second quarter of 2021.

In the second quarter of 2022, the average gross value added per employee increased by 3.2% compared to the second quarter of 2021, and the average gross value added per person-hour worked increased by 2.9%.

In the second quarter of 2022, the level of labour productivity in the industrial sector was worth BGN 12,554.6 gross added value on average per employee and BGN 30.9 per man-hour worked (according to preliminary data). In the service sector, each employed person produced an average of BGN 9,178.3 average gross value added and an average of BGN 22.9 of the current volume of the indicator. Productivity was the lowest in the agrarian sector - BGN 2,449.4 VAT per employee and BGN 6.3 per man-hour worked.
