Representatives of Member States (national organic ambassadors) met in Prague to discuss the trednds and challenges facing the organic farming sector. Caretaker Deputy Agriculture Minister Georgi Sabev was the Bulgarian organic ambassador in the high-level meeting, organized in connection with the Czech EU Council Presidency.
Sabev told the participants in the forum that, unfortunately, the last two years, and particularly crises during these years, have had a negative impact on consumer behaviour, with the "price" factor becoming increasingly important. The same trend is observed in a number of countries, including those in Central and Northern Europe.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Sabev discussed with his Czech counterpart Petr Jilek topical issues at the European level, including imports from the EU's neighbouring countries, which is causing concern both at home and in other Central and Eastern European countries.
The next high-level meeting of national organic ambassadors will take place in December in Brussels.
