site.bta4th InteliFresh Forum Brings to Sofia Bulgarian, Foreign Fruit and Veg Producers
The 4th edition of the biggest fruit and vegetables forum in the Balkans, InteliFresh, began at Sofia's Inter Expo Centre on Tuesday. The event meets agricultural producers with traders and suppliers of various solutions for the industry. Participating in this year's edition are experts from the Netherlands who share their experience in State-science-business cooperation and present leading technologies in fruit production and greenhouse vegetable growing.
Speaking at the forum's opening, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Todor Dzhikov said that the key to achieving balance between the fruit and vegetables sector's economic and ecological sustainability is its accelerated technical renovation and the broad introduction of digital technologies in agricultural practices. In his words, in the last years Bulgaria has seen an increase in investment expenditures, which are ever more often directed at modernization and higher quality produce.
The State's policy should be directed at achieving growth in the production of Bulgarian fruit and vegetables, which would increase the market share of local products, Dzhikov argued. The sector should continue to be a priority in the true sense of the word in the next programming period until 2030, he added.
