The Balkan Rumelian Turks Confederation (BRTK) in Turkey will support the Bulgarian Turks running in Bulgaria’s early general elections on October 2, BRTK head Sabri Mutlu said. The decision was taken at a sitting of the BRTK governing council on September 8.
The organization calls on voters in Turkey with dual citizenship to express their support so that the rights of Turks in Bulgaria be protected and their problems, solved.
“We consider the forthcoming vote on October 2 very important, because our neighbour Bulgaria failed to establish a stable government despite the three consecutive elections held last year,” Mutlu said. Political stability in Bulgaria is a condition for the prosperity of all its citizens, he added.
In this relation, the big task ahead of the ten federations within BRTK and nongovernmental organizations is to assist in motivating citizens with the right to vote in Bulgaria to exercise it, to inform them and to remind them the importance of every vote for pluralism in democratic societies, Mutlu said.
