Sculptures by Todor Todorov will be presented on March 1 at the Bulgarian Embassy in Brussels, Georgi Vutov, an associate at the embassy in the Belgian capital, told BTA on Thursday. The event includes a screening of the documentary Portrait of Todor Todorov and a meeting with the sculptor, as well as with the artist Daniela Todorova, curator of the project, and the creator of the film Simon Todorov. Deputy Minister of Culture Vessela Kondakova will be a special guest at the event.

The exhibition is part of the STREICH art project, which will be hosted by Belgium for three months and is implemented jointly by the Bulgarian Embassy in Brussels, the Amateras Foundation and Belgian partners, with the kind support of the National Culture Fund and the State Institute for Culture with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project was created by the Amateras Foundation in 2021 on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the sculptor.

Todor Todorov has been a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists since 1984, and ten international professional organizations in Europe and Asia. He is known for his monumental works in park and urban environments, as well as for exhibitions of easel sculpture at home and abroad. He has created kinetic works, water-powered sculptures, and a series of sundials. He has won numerous awards and his works are owned by private collections, museums, and major global companies.

In the last few years, Todorov began making sound interactive sculptures and so the STREICH series was born. The collection was completed in three years, and is motivated by the symbiosis between performer and instrument.
