On March 3, which is Bulgaria's national day, the doors of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Rome named after prominent Bulgarian opera singer Boris Christoff will open to provide a stage for young Bulgarian opera students who will take part in a performance called "Voices Through Centuries".
The organizers of the event hosted by the institute, which is also known as Casa Boris Christoff, describe the performance as "a journey through some of the arias that have enriched the grand opera - from Handel to Mozart, from Rossini to Vladiguerov and Bizet" performed by five young artists from Bulgaria who have been busy preparing for the performance under the guidance of Vincenzo De Vivo, Alessandro D'Agostini, Alessandro D'Agostini, Valentina Koutsarova and Orlin Anastassov. The five young artists are Maria Slavova (soprano), Boris Dobrev (bass), Victor Krustanov (bass), Adriana Stefanova (soprano) and Krassena Velikova (mezzo-soprano).
The five performers say that Casa Boris Christoff is an artistic and cultural project which upholds the calling of the two countries' opera traditions and enlivens the home of the great Boris Christoff with the splendour of the great opera, which is exactly how the famous bass would have wanted it to be.
