French-Swiss flutist Emmanuel Pahud will perform with the Sofia Philharmonic at Sofia’s Bulgaria Hall on March 31, the orchestra said. Under the baton of Nayden Todorov, the guest will present to the Bulgarian audience Carl Nielsen's Flute Concerto.

Emmanuel Pahud is known as the best flutist of the new time, and critics say he sets the standard for all that a flute player should strive to be. 

At the age of 22, he joined the Berlin Philharmonic, thus becoming the youngest solo flute player in that orchestra’s history. He is also the only flutist in the world with a contract for solo recordings with EMI Classics. He plays with equal passion Baroque, jazz, classical, chamber and orchestra music. 

In addition to his work at the Berlin Philharmonic, he has an international career as a solo and chamber musician. He performs regularly at leading festivals in Europe, the Far East, and the United States. He has made solo performances with many of the leading orchestras in the world, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Bayerischer Rundfunk under the baton of conductors from the rank of Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, and Mstislav Rostropovich, among others.
