Until April 29, three flags designed by Albanian artist Anri Sala will be waving on the flagpoles next to Sofia's National Palace of Culture. The flags feature the Pantone Color Institute’s colours of the 2019-2022 period, spanning the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers say.

This initiative is part of a Forms, Art in Public Space project, organized by the Musiz Foundation. The flag installation is entitled Very Ultimate Illuminating Classic Living. When the flags flutter in the wind, some of the colours are visible to the public, while others remain hidden, which is meant as a metaphor for the hiatuses caused by epidemic waves and lockdowns.

Anri Sala was born in Tirana in 1974. He lives and works in Berlin. He gained global fame with his video installations Intervista - Finding the Words; Nocturnes; Dammi i Colori (Give Me the Colours). Other media that he has worked with include photography, drawing, and sculpture.
