site.btaBulgarian Antarctic Institute Director Opens Themed Child Drawings Exhibition

The director of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI), Prof. Hristo Pimpirev, opened an exhibition of child drawings at the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia on Monday.  Themed "Where do penguins live?", the exhibition is a joint initiative of BAI, the National Centre for Polar Studies to the Sofia University and the educational Centre "Max International", said BAI.

More than 1,000 Bulgarian children of different ages participated in the initiative, showing off not only their talent but also their interest in Antarctica and its environment. "Through this kind of events and the expressive means of the arts we hope to draw the attention of children, pupils and university students to the importance of protecting Antarctic heritage and the planet's environment", Pimpirev said. 

After a preliminary selection, 200 drawings were selected ans can now be seen between April 11 and 15 in the Central Foyer of Sofia University.
