To mark April 23, the World Book and Copyright Day, this year Varna Regional Library (LIBVAR) is organizing the 20th edition of their annual Marathon of the Reading People. This year as an exception, the marathon will take place on April 15 instead of 23, the Library specified.

Its goal is to have people in the coastal city, no matter their age or background, read out loud a few pages from a book they love. Sharing that experience with others creates a sense of closeness and warmth, brings people together, LIBVAR said. Reading is a universal means of communication: it does not discriminate against age, gender, nationality, religion, or social status.

This year’s marathon is dedicated to the memory of Dr Emiliya Milkova who worked to make the initiative a national campaign.

Anyone can join the marathon’s Facebook group and share ideas, photos, videos, and comments.
