site.btaElectronic Media Regulator Elects New Chair
The Council for Electronic Media (CEM) elected a new Chairperson Thursday. Sonia Momchilova was backed by a vote of 4-1 in the five-member CEM and will be its Chair as of April 28.
Also on Thursday, the parliamentary media committee will hold a hearing of the people who have been nominated as CEM members for the three seats that expire on April 27.

Momchilova was born on May 12, 1969. Between 1990 and 1994, she was a scriptwriter for the Ku-ku student TV show and also wrote songs for the show's band. In 2000, Momchilova was producer of the morning talk show on bTV. She has also worked as an editor for the Bulgarian National Television. Her career also included stints as head of the press-offices of the Justice Ministry, Interior Ministry, Transport and Communications Ministry, and the caretaker government of Prime Minister Stefan Yanev. In July 2021 Momchilova was appointed CEM member by President Rumen Radev.
