site.btaOver 260 Films to be Screened at In The Palace Festival

The 19th In The Palace International Short Film Festival will be held in Pernik (Western Bulgaria) from May 31 to June 7. To be screened at the Palace of Culture there are over 260 films from across the world, the organizers said. Selected are Bulgarian and foreign films in six competition programmes and in four sub-genre categories: feature, documentary, animated and experimental films.

The winners in the best feature, best animation and best Bulgarian film categories will be considered for an Oscar nomination by the US Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In The Palace is the only Bulgarian festival certified to send films for the Oscars and Spain's Goya Awards.

A total of 3,281 films from more than 95 countries applied for this year's In The Palace festival.

In addition to screenings, the festival programme includes professional meetings with the short film industry, a scientific conference, discussions, educational panels, a pitching session, exhibitions, and concerts.
