World-famous violinist Roman Kim will perform in Sliven on May 19, the local Symphony Orchestra said. The young virtuoso will appear as a soloist in Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 1 under the baton of Konstantin Ilievski.

The concert will also include Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 "Italian".

The Cologne-based Kim has made a mark for the explosive energy of his sound, his incredible virtuosity, his flawless technique and the sheer beauty of his tone and is known for wearing prismatic glasses that he himself invented, believed to improve focus and concentration.

As an innovator, he constantly develops new techniques and contraptions to satisfy his creative ideas. He invented a new type of strings of his own, used by several  violinists. Since 2016, the prismatic glasses have been studied by scientists in Seoul (South Korea) and Neuwied (Germany), suggesting that they provoke a state of cerebral activity, sharpening the senses and enhancing self-control.

Kim was supposed to tour Sliven on October 21, 2021 for the opening of the Sliven Orchestra season, but the concert was postponed because of the anti-epidemic measures.

The May 19 concert is on the programme of the May Days of Culture Sliven Fires.
