An exhibition dedicated to the miraculous icons and holy relics of the Balkans was opened at Sofia's National Palace of Culture on Monday. The event marked the end of the international conference on the Cyrillic alphabet in Sofia, which was organized by Vice President Iliana Iotova. BTA is a media partner of the forum.

Bulgarian studies experts discussed Cyrillic alphabet as a symbol of Orthodox Slavic literacy during the second panel of the international forum on the Cyrillic alphabet at the National Palace of Culture here on Monday.

Epigraphic monuments reveal unknown pages of the First Bulgarian Empire's history (681 - 1018 AD) and constitute the main source of information about our ancestors' language and literacy, said Prof. Kazimir Popkonstantinov while presenting his report "Medieval Bulgarian writing: the contribution of epigraphy" at an international forum on the Cyrillic alphabet here on Monday.
