Composers Mehmet Nemutlu (Turkiye) and Sanja Drakulic (Croatia) will attend the “Spiritual Bridges” 2nd Balkan Chamber Music Fest in Pernik, the Chairman of the Board of the Union of Bulgarian Composers, Tsenko Minkin, told a BTA-hosted news conference Wednesday.

The fest will be held on November 10 at the Palace of Culture in Pernik.

Nemutlu will attend the world premiere of a piece of his, a quintet for flute, clarinet, violin, violoncello, and piano. It will be performed by Martin Pavlov (flute), Rossen Idealov (clarinet), Sara Panosyan (violin), Georgita Boyadzhieva (violoncello), and Ivan Kerekovski (piano).

Sanja Drakulic will present her “Suburb & City” piece for piano 4 hands, to be performed by duo Desislava Shtereva and Evgenia Simeonova.

The programme of “Spiritual Bridges” also  features works by Zarko Mirkovic (Montenegro), Nikos Drelas (Greece), Vasil Tole (Albania) and Tsenko Minkin (Bulgaria).

The rest of the foreign guests were prevented from attending but had sent their greetings to the audience, said Minkin who noted that the fest was becoming a wonderful tradition.

The Balkan Chamber Music Festival is part of the events marking 120 years of the presence of haute music in Pernik, said the deputy mayor of the city Stefan Krastev, recalling that its first orchestra was established in 1902 and this gradually grew into a philharmonic, which existed until 1964.

BTA is media partner to the event and encourages in all ways possible Bulgaria’s desire to focus on the various spheres of life shared by people in the Balkans, said BTA Director General Kiril Valchev. He recalled that as of September, BTA is the seat of the Association of the Balkan News Agencies - Southeast Europe (ABNA-SE).

Peace in the Balkans is maintained first of all by spiritual bridges, such as the chamber music festival in Pernik, Valchev added
