“The National Christmas and New Year Carol Fest is an absolutely unique event, one that is included in Haskovo’s cultural calendar. The forum is hosted in this city of countless talents and the driving force behind it is the conductor, Elena Tsvetkova,” Haskovo Municipality Mayor Stanislav Dechev said, speaking at the opening of the event’s seventh edition on Friday evening.

The carol fest opened with a concert of four choirs: Sea Sands from Burgas, the Choir of Plovdiv Boys, the Slavey Mixed Choir from Harmanli, and the Dobri Hristov Children's Choir from Varna. They all joined in singing the festival hymn, “Christmas is here” at the end.

On Saturday the programme will continue at the Youth Centre in Haskovo.
