After Paris's Sunset Sunside Club on November 30, one of the most popular Bulgarian pianists, Ludmil Angelov, composer, singer and songwriter Cristina Villalonga (formerly of Gotan Project) and virtuoso bandoneonist Victor Villena will appear at the Sofia Live Club on December 19 for their first joint project, "Tango Nights".
The project is produced by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Paris.
Gotan Project helped the world rediscover the charm of Argentine tango. After the electronic-tango group ended their concerts in 2010, Villalonga, who hails from Catalunya, has been touring Europe with her own and classical tango repertoire. In tandem with Villena (whose bandoneon has been described by The New York Times as "an emotional universe unto itself"), the singer is staging boutique concerts in Europe and America.
Ludmil Angelov is joining the duo for the first time in "Tango Nights". Having made a name for himself for his superb Chopin performances, Angelov is also a founding member of the 5/4 Tango Quintet, which specializes in works by legendary tango composer and bandoneon player Astor Piazzolla.
