site.btaCultural Cooperation Programme Launched with Mongolia
Minister of Culture Prof. Velislav Minekov and the Ambassador of Mongolia in Bulgaria Mrs. Sayanaa Lkhagvarusen signed a five-year programme for cooperation in the field of culture, education and science between the governments of the two countries, the press centre of Minekov’s ministry said Wednesday.
According to Minekov, the programme is very promising. He pointed out that more than 500 Mongolians have received higher education in Bulgaria and more than 3,000 Mongolians have gained qualifications in various fields here.
Ambassador Sayanaa pointed out that BTA and the Mongolian news agency MONTSAME, as well as BNT and the Mongolian National Television, have also signed cooperation agreements.
The programme signed on Wednesday provides for support and organisation of exhibitions and festivals, exchange of theatre performances and ensembles. Partnership in the field of literature and translation, cooperation between libraries, museums and other cultural institutions, and exchange of films are also envisaged. Another focus of the document is the establishment of cultural centres on a reciprocal basis.
The two sides also agree to promote cooperation between institutions dealing with the restoration of immovable cultural property and works of art, as well as the protection of movable cultural property, including the prevention of illicit trafficking.
With regard to education, the programme foresees the intensification and expansion of contacts between scientific institutions of Bulgaria and Mongolia, exchange of teachers and research assistants for scientific research, exchange of information and documentation on the structure and content of education, etc. Direct contacts between the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and other scientific and research institutes shall also be encouraged on the basis of relevant direct agreements.
