site.btaExhibition to Explore Boundaries of Art in Physical and Virtual Environment
The boundaries of art in the physical and the virtual environment are explored in a selection of artworks which will be on display at the Ko-op Gallery in Sofia between January 12 and February 5. The exhibition is entitled Boundary Systems and is curated by Stefka Tsaneva, the organizers said.
The show is intended as an incentive to experiment using VR technology. It will raise the questions of where the physically possible ends and the imagined begins, and whether the transition is due to a need for physical closeness or a kind of postdigital fatigue. "Rather than exploring mainly apocalyptical scenarios for the future, which is typical of contemporary VR art, the exhibition focuses on art as a creative, personal and conscious act of pushing the limits and redefining what is possible and what is not," the organizers said.
Artists Marina Genova, Silvia Koeva-Popova, Pavlin Radevski and Stephanie Handjiiska are contributing to the exhibition. The project is supported by the National Culture Fund.
