site.btaSecond International Clarinet Competition in the Name of Prof. Sava Dimitrov to be Held on January 20

The Second International Clarinet Competition, named after Professor Sava Dimitrov, will take place between January 20 and 24, 2023 at the Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy (NMA), the organizers said.

The event will open with a clarinet concert played by members of the international jury at the NMA concert hall. They will perform popular works by Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc and Michele Mangani.

Among the officials invited to the concert are the Ministers of Culture, of Education and Science, the Mayor of Sofia, the ambassadors of Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Romania, Croatia, the USA and China.

A total of 159 participants from all over the world will take part in the 2023 competition. The top 30 participants will attend the judging rounds in Sofia between January 20 and 24, 2023. After the jury's preliminary selection, three representatives of Poland were admitted to the attendance rounds of the competition.

Representatives of different music schools comprise the jury - Arkadiusz Adamski (Poland), Emil Visenescu (Romania), Gabor Varga (Hungary), Juro Pere (Serbia), Vangel Tangarov (Bulgaria/USA), Maria Pavlovic (Croatia/Belgium) and Yuan Yuan (China).

The International Clarinet Competition is organized by the Prof. Sava Dimitrov Foundation and the NMA, supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Sofia Municipality. The competition encourages cultural exchange by providing a stage where young music talents can express themselves. Participants have the opportunity to interact with their peers, with foreigners and students of the respective music schools, as well as to receive useful advice from the international jury, who will be conducting masterclasses with them, during the competition.
