The Government of Moldova has approved the instalment of a monument to Bulgarian revolutionary Vassil Levski in Taraclia. The monument to the man known as the Bulgarian Apostle of Freedom, is to be raised in the city mainly inhabited by Bulgarians descended from settlers at the end of the 18th century.

The decision was taken in compliance with the Public Monuments Act by a motion of the Ministry of Culture tabled following a decision of the Taraclia Regional Council, the official Government website said Friday.

The costs on the project documentation, the execution and instalment of the monument, as well as those on the urban planning of the adjacent area are to be covered by donations, sponsorship and other sources not prohibited by law, the government decision specifies.

The monument is planned to be erected in front of the Bulgarian Cultural and Information Centre in Taraclia to be opened with the financial support of the Bulgarian state.
