US-based Bulgarian sculptor Evgeni Vodenicharov creates sculptures that can be used as pieces of furniture. In an interview for bg-voice.com, he says the idea of the sitting part is to make one comfortable and create a close relationship between the person and the sculpture. He is adamant that what he creates is art - not practical objects.

Born in Pleven in 1966, Vodenicharov has been passionate about art since the age of 4-5 and his uncle, also an artist, has kept his sketches and drawings from that time. He studied at the National School of Applied Arts in Troyan and graduated in sculpture from the University of Veliko Tarnovo. He moved to the US in 1994, first to Chicago and then Las Vegas. He quickly found a job as a sculptor: Vegas was a burgeoning city in the 90's, casinos were mushrooming and I he was "lucky to be in the right place at the right time", to use his own words.

For the past seven years Evgeni Vodenicharov - EV, as per his artistic pseudonym, has been a member of the Hollywood Sculptors Union.

He has created memorable figures and set layouts for blockbusters such as The Avengers and the Loki series from the Marvel Universe. His figures, interiors and exteriors adorn many casinos in the Las Vegas Strip.

The Bulgarian's original style is shown at The Venetian which had the biggest casino in the 1990s, as well as in the legendary Treasure Island.

In 1999, he founded his own company, Icon Sculpting.
