Bulgarian Minister of Culture Velislav Minekov participated in Davos Baukultur Alliance 2023 - the conference of culture ministers, held between 14-16 January this year in Davos, Switzerland. The forum, opened by Swiss President Alain Berset, discussed and adopted the Memorandum that launched the Baukultur Alliance on Monday.
The conference is part of the Davos Process, launched in 2018.
Delegations of ministries, non-governmental organizations, international cultural and heritage organizations, as well as business representatives are taking part in the prestigious international forum.
In his address to the conference, Minister Minekov said that the symbiosis between culture, art, architecture, technology and science would lead to innovative solutions that respond to current challenges and contribute to a better environment for the future.
The New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative is a particularly large and valuable initiative of the European Commission, which can be defined as the material dimension of shared priorities, innovative vision and policies at EU level.
Prof. Minekov pointed out that his main task as a caretaker Minister of Culture was to foster interaction among different sectors and dialogue between academia, central and local authorities and other stakeholders in the process of building an environment with a focus on the role of culture and the preservation of cultural heritage.
In the spirit of these processes, Minister Minekov had a conversation with UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture Ernesto Otone Ramirez about the transformation of St. St. Cyric and Julita Island into a world cultural centre. Mr Otone Ramirez will visit Bulgaria in March this year to continue talks on that topic.
A joint statement on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of Ukraine is also being prepared at the initiative of the Baltic States, which Bulgaria will join.
This evening, Minister Minekov will also attend the opening of the World Economic Forum. Klaus Schwab, Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum in Davos, will present the Forum's views on the importance of the Baukultur Alliance in Davos and the Conference of Ministers of Culture. A historic number (52) of government and country leaders are participating in the World Economic Forum 2023 in Davos.
