site.btaSculptor Angel Atanassov to Open Exhibition in Sofia on January 20

Sculptor Angel Atanassov will open an exhibition at Sofia’s Contrast Gallery on January 20, the organizers said. To be exhibited are  works representing the wondrous appearance of complex spatial forms. 

He explained that he has been preparing the exhibition for three years. He will present part of a project related to his orientations in the field of sculpture. “This first part involves composition based on complex derivative spatial bodies, seeking of plasticity as a melody and rhythm determined by the relation between surface and plane,” the sculptor said. 

Angel Atanassov is a graduate of the National Academy of Art in Sofia. Winner of third prize from the Toronto Biennial in sculpture. He has participated in two symposia on sculpture and two exhibitions in the Netherlands. He has thought sculpture at the National Academy of Art for 12 years.
